The sanctuary’s mission is to provide a safe and nurturing home to lions, tigers, bears and other exotic animals that have been abused.
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Wild Animal Sanctuary and my heart was touched, in ways beyond describing. The sanctuary’s mission is to provide a safe and nurturing home to lions, tigers, bears and other exotic animals that have been abused, abandoned or kept illegally as “pets.” I can honestly say the more than 150 animals who make their homes at the sanctuary are truly loved.
Although you may be aware of my work in movies and television, my real passion is bringing increased public attention and support to important causes and worthwhile charities. Please join me in supporting the important and necessary work being done. Jessica Biel.
In December of 2010, our entire team was put to the test with one of the largest rescue projects in the history of the Sanctuary.
The rescue was nothing less than epic, and it garnered an incredible amount of press world-wide. The amount of people, equipment, materials and labor that went into their rescue was monumental to say the least, and when the dust settled, all 25 of the abused and malnourished ex-circus lions were beginning a new life on the open grasslands of Colorado’s front-range.
The life of a typical circus animal is fraught with terrible things like traveling for months on end… living day and night in cage, crate or small trailer… and performing mindless tricks multiple times a day – all for the benefit of their human captor and his or her audience.
We sponsor our own annual fundraisers, “Summer Safari,” that are held throughout the summer and host other Sanctuary events.
The Wild Animal Sanctuary loves being a part of the community! We participate in lots of town fairs environmental events along Colorado’s Front Range, and we gratefully accept every opportunity to partner with organizations and businesses to do cross promotions. Most of these activities occur outside in spring and summer, but sometimes we are involved in indoor events during the colder weather.
Listed below are current events/dates, as well as those in the upcoming months. We look forward to having you stop by if you’re in the neighborhood! May 17th - May 31st - June 14th - June 28th July 12th - July 26th - August 9th & August 23rd.
